ANL-USL, or USL as it was then branded, launched its first service in the Transpacific in late 2003, offering a fixed-day, weekly schedule to Long Beach from two of Asia's largest loadports, Yantian and Hong Kong. In the spring of 2005, USL extended its scope to include Vietnam, offering service between Hong Kong and Ho Chi Minh City, with transhipment to California over its Hong Kong hub.
In June of 2006 USL announced a major expansion upon its Pacific services by introducing new fixed day independent southbound sailings directly between Los Angeles and Australia/New Zealand, new westbound services from New Zealand to Australia, and new export services from both New Zealand and Australia to Hong Kong/South China and North America. This new operation will be identified as USL's ANZL service.
In December of 2007, USL was purchased by the CMA CGM Group to operate as a subsidiary of Australia National Line (ANL), re-branding under the trade name ANL-USL. This initiative not only allowed ANL-USL to benefit from the tremendous resources & network ....of its parent, CMA CGM, but also has allowed for a significant expansion in the scope of services offered to customers…direct service to/from the US Wast Coast, Central and South China direct to/from the US East Coast, and full intermodal coverage throughout North America. |
