SOUTHBOUND TRADE

The ongoing contract discussions between the Maritime Union of New Zealand and the Ports of Auckland, which began in November of 2011, are still not finalized. Despite progress in the negotiations the threat of resumed labor disruption looms.

As a result, so as to protect against incremental costs associated with possible work stoppages, US Lines has forward-filed a New Zealand Strike Surcharge @ $110/TEU, effective for cargo received on or after November 1, 2012.

This Surcharge will not be implemented should no labor disruption ensue.
